Fastrack® is a psychometric test which assesses an individual’s potential or ability to acquire and process information. Unlike other ability tests, Fastrack® is not a conventional type of test as it requires a ‘hands-on’ use of cards which contain information. In the actual assessment, following an example scenario, 5 additional scenarios are presented where each scenario has a series of corresponding cards containing tabular information. The information contained is clearly labelled, and may depict some rules that are used in a particular situations. For example, company information may be depicted for different employees of varying ‘role’, ‘experience’, ‘tenure’, along with their ‘holiday entitlement’. As part of the first scenario, you may be given 15 employee cards that contain this information for various employees. The ‘holiday entitlement’ may be missing for the final 3 cards that are presented and the candidates task will be to identify this information using patterns and trends that can be determined from the first complete 12 employee cards. From this, it may be evident that the only variable impacting employee ‘holiday entitlement’ is ‘tenure’, and that the first 12 complete cards show the variation of ‘holiday entitlement’ with ample variation in ‘tenure’ for you to obtain the correct rules. The candidate then uses these rules to complete the missing information for those final 3 cards that are provided as questions.
The test does not pre-suppose any prior knowledge, and all of the information that is needed to get the correct answers is provided in each scenario. The answers to the test are scored in a normed manner which means that your number correct will be compared against a group of similar individuals who have taken the test previously, so that they can see how well you have done in comparison.
